“We all are swayam-sevaks. The responsibility may change but a swayamsevak always remains a swayamsevak. I have been entrusted with the responsibility of Sarsanghachalak, but I never develop any misconception about myself. I do not have the qualities and the great personality that the previous Sarsanghachalaks had. The secret of our success is that we all swayamsevaks work together,? said the new Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat. He was speaking at a function held at the historic Ramlila Grounds in New Delhi on March 31.
The function was organised by Delhi Prant of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to welcome the new Sarsanghachalak. More than 10,000 uniformed swayamsevaks assembled at Ramlila Grounds on a very short notice.
Former Sarsanghachalak Shri KS Sudarshan, newly elected Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, Uttar Kshetra Sanghachalak Dr Bajranglal Gupt and Delhi Prant Sanghachalak Shri Ramesh Prakash Sharma also shared the dais. The new Sarsanghachalak was offered the Sarsanghachalak pranam by all the swayamsevaks immediately after he reached the dais. Among the prominent personalities present on the occasion included former Delhi Prant Sanghachalak Shri Satyanarayan Bansal, BJP veterans Shri Kidar Nath Sahni, Shri Madan Lal Khurana, Shri Vijay Kumar Malhotra, former Delhi BJP chief Dr Harsh Vardhan, Mayor of Delhi Smt Arti Mehra and VHP general secretary Dr Pravin Togadia.
Earlier, Shri Mohan Bhagwat was extended a warm welcome at New Delhi Railway Station when he reached Delhi from Nagpur in the morning. Besides all the Zila and Vibhag Sanghachalaks as well Prant Sanghachalak Shri Ramesh Prakash Sharma, the representatives of various social and religious organisations of Delhi also welcomed Shri Bhagwat at the railway station. Keshav Kunj, Delhi Prant Sangh Karyalaya, was also decorated with flowers and rangoli.
Before the speech of Shri Mohan Bhagwat at Ramlila Grounds, Dr Bajranglal Gupt explained in details as to how the change of guard in the Sangh took place in Nagpur on March 21. He said unlike the unruly scenes witnessed on such occasions in various other organisations, the change in the largest organisation of the world took place quite smoothly and in a very cordial ambience. ?When Shri Sudarshanji announced the name of Shri Mohan Bhagwat as his successor, he was fully satisfied for the future of the Sangh, as the person whom he was going to hand over the responsibility of the organisation is quite capable and efficient for the important post of leading the Sangh. It is because of his feeling that the Sangh work should not suffer due to his growing age, Shri Sudarshanji handed over the responsibility of the Sarsanghachalak to Shri Mohan Bhagwat,? he said.
Expressing his confidence that the work of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) would spread from strength to strength in the coming years, Shri Bhagwat said, ?We are not worried about criticism as those who criticise us are motivated by selfish gains. It is the fifth generation of RSS and the Sangh work has been flourishing and blooming everyday. The period when the Sangh used to be neglected and opposed is over. We faced opposition for 50-60 years. But we proceeded forward defeating all kinds of opposition. We also witnessed the period when everyone showered praise on us and tried to associate himself with us. But the swayamsevaks never deviated from their ideology,? he added.
The Sarsanghachalak said Bharat would lead the world when she firmly emulates her ancient values and ethos. ?All of us should present an example of that ideal life in our daily conduct. The victory is certain. There is a need to awaken those, who have forgotten our glorious past. We have to win the confidence of all the people. All the good forces are with us. Today, the Sangh has entered into a new era, the era that will take us to new heights. Let us work together for the speedy development of the nation. I am confident that I, along with you, will see Bharat emerging as a superpower,? he emphasised.
Reiterating the fact that the word Hindu does not have religious but cultural connotation, Shri Bhagwat said the former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and the man behind the dairy products revolution Shri Verghese Kurien have well illustrated that a policy based on Indian traditions, culture and experiences would be successful in benefitting the humanity.
He said Hindus represent the culture of this country. ?Each one who resides in Bharat, the greater Bharat before Partition, is a Hindu and should be proud of his or her identity. Hindutva is the identity of this nation. It treats the world as a family and not as a market. That is why the whole world has a lot of expectations from us. Only Hindus can show the world the path of peace and progress. Therefore, we must preserve this divine identity. The culture is protected by the society and when the society makes progress the country makes progress. The nation becomes powerful only when the society is imbued with self-respect. We have to infuse such a sense of self-respect into the society,? he added.
Shri Bhagwat reiterated that the RSS believes in the concept of Vasudhaivakutum-bakam and exhorted the swayamsevaks to win the confidence of all the people living in the country. ?The Sangh has a team of dedicated (devdurlabh) activists and a time-tested method of developing such workers?the daily shakha. During the last 83 years the swayamsevaks earned name and fame in every field. Their activities received applause from one and all,? he added.
