Samskrit Bharati organised a Sanskrit Parivar Milan in Haridwar on March 1. A total of 65 families from 16 states of the country participated in the Milan. At least two generations from each family who are used to converse in Sanskrit at their respective homes, were invited by the Sanskrit Academy of Uttarakhand in association with Samskrit Bharati to show the people of Uttarakhand the very feasibility of developing Uttarakhand into a Sanskrit State. The Secretary of the Academy Dr Buddhadeo Sharma clearly expressed the goal of developing Uttarakhand into a Sanskrit State.

The children gathered from various states mingled with each other in such a way that nobody could locate the native states of them. This happened due to a common language, Sanskrit. It shows if Sanskrit is developed as a link language in the country, the fractions and hatred developed in the name of a language will be wiped out. An integrated Bharat will emerge having a common culture.

The chief guest at the inaugural function was Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Agriculture Minister of Uttarakhand. He hoped that knowledge, culture and civilisation would lead the society at the top of the world. The participants exhibited their talent through story telling, drama, poems, songs and jokes. Since the medium of communication was Sanskrit the local citizens were mesmerised.

Presiding over the function, Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry, general secretary of Samskrit Bharati, emphasised the need to educate the female members of the family in Sanskrit so that the next generation has Sanskrit as its mother tongue. The children present at the function were having Sanskrit as their mother tongue. Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry'smother tongue is Kannada. His wife Smt. Sarita'smother tongue is Marathi and their son Shiva'smother tongue is Sanskrit. Delhi State organising secretary Shri Sudishta Mishra'smother tongue is Angika (native place being Bhagalpur). His wife Smt. Minaxi is Marathi speaking and their daughter Mimansa'smother tongue is Sanskrit. Likewise 1579 Sanskrit families are on record of Samskrit Bharati. Out of these few are traditional and major chunk is developed by the Samskrit Bharati.
