Jo church dharmantaran kare, voh church papi hai; Jagannathji ki dharti par Christian atankwad nahi chalega; Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati amar rahe? These slogans were aired by one lakh Hindus of Orissa in Bhubaneswar while paying their tributes to the late Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, who was brutally murdered by Christian terrorists in the holy night of Janmashtami. This was a mammoth gathering of Hindus representing every part of the state. The condolence meeting was organised by the followers of the late Swamiji. The whole capital city was captivated by the Hindu patriots and their bhagwa (saffron) flags. They did not care for the UPA government'swarning to suspend this grand meeting and warned all those, who intend to preach violence and propagate terrorism and conversion in the state, against carrying out their propaganda. They also gave an ultimatum to the state government to arrest the real assassinators of Swami Laxmanananda on or before December 15 and to stop arbitrary arrests of innocent Hindus in Kandhamal. It was alleged that the Chief Minister is working under pressure of both the church and the Congress-led UPA government at the centre in dealing with the Kandhamal violence. They held Congress Rajya Sabha member Radhakant Nayak as the prime conspirator behind Swamiji'smurder and demanded his immediate arrest.

Shri Harihar Nanda, the central convener of Hindu Jagaran Manch (HJM), said: ?Communist ultras are hand in glove with Christians to eliminate Hindus from Orissa. The Maoists are adequately funded by the Christian NGOs. The state government should make an enquiry into the church fund and its utilisation for converting the Hindus. Peace will not return in the state until the conversion is stopped. Swamiji'sassassination is a challenge to all of us, for our survival. We should strive our best to awaken the Hindus of the state and to mobilise them to resist the church-sponsored violence.? The former Member of Parliament and VHP'spresent Kendriya Margadarshak Mandal member Dr. Ramvilas Vedanti accused the UPA government of being the agent of the Pope. In his speech he said: ?The Congress is fully captured by the Christians. The UPA government is a slave of the Vatican City, which did not utter a single word against the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, rather it strongly condemned the baseless church-burning incidents. The Congress MP Radhakant Nayak is the real conspirator behind Swamiji'smurder. Swami Laxmanananda once told me that Radhakant Nayak was the man who always wanted to eliminate him. The Orissa government must arrest him immediately.? He strongly condemned the narco tests of Sadhvi Pragya and emphasised that such tests should be conducted on Radhakant Nayak and Raphel Chinnath in order to ascertain the real murderer of Swamiji. Similarly, Swami Jivan Chaitanya Maharaj gave a call to the Hindu youth to make anti-conversion squads. He registered an oath to the audience for cattle protection and to combat conversion.

Shri Indresh Kumar, Member, RSS National Executive, said that conversion is a sin and a crime against God and it must come to an end in order to maintain peace and tranquility in the world. ?Unless and until the church-sponsored conversion is stopped, peace and brotherhood cannot be established in this world. A lady journalist of Florida has written a book namely The Dark Side of Christianity. That book points out how more than 100 civilisations were destroyed and 1.5 crore people have been killed by the church in the whole world.? He urged the government to publish a white paper on church funds and its utilisation for the development of backward people and why the church fails to bring development in the underdeveloped areas, under its exclusive operation.

Dr. Indulata Das, a known educationist and social activist of the state, vehemently criticised the state government for giving preferential treatment to the alleged rape victim nun who had no faith on the government as well as on the police. Bharatiya Kisan Sangh's central secretary Shri Mohinimohan Mishra came down heavily on the state government for its studied silence and unprecedented inaction towards protection of Hindus in Kandhamal. He also accused the state government of appeasing the Christian community as it being pressurised by the evangelist proselytizers. He also demanded the arrest of Archbishop Raphel Chhinath. ?Raphel Chinnath has published a book namely Faith Under Fire. In that book at page 41, Chinnath has described the Orissa Freedom of Religion Act, 1967 as a draconian enactment. He has dared to ridicule such an enactment, which was passed by the state legislative assembly as the mandate of the people of Orissa. By doing so, he has apparently outraged the sanctity of the state legislature and as such deserves to be prosecuted as per law.?

Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram'snational president Shri Jagdev Ram Oraon in his thought-provoking speech said that Kandha Vanvasis are the integral part of the Hindu society. They cannot be separated from the mainstream of the nation. Every attempt of the Christian missionaries to convert them should be answered properly, he said. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh'snational organising secretary Shri Krishna Chandra Mishra criticised the anti-Hindu media and warned them not to publish the false anti-Hindu news, as it fuels the communal fire. Similarly, Hindu Jagaran Samukshya'sstate president Shri Ashok Sahu and ABVP'szonal organising secretary Shri Vishnu Das appealed to the audience not to compromise with their national and religious sentiments and to protect their dharma at any cost. VHP'sstate general secretary Shri Gouri Prasad Rath gave the welcome speech and Swami Sachidananda proposed a vote of thanks. Among other dignitaries, VHP'scentral secretary Shri Y Raghavellu, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram'sstate president Dr. Laxmikanta Dash, Swami Pranarupananda Saraswati of Ramakrishna Mission, Prant Sanghachalak Shri Ashok Das, writer Shri Bhagirathi Mahasuar, and Tridandi Swami Bhagawan Dev Maharaj were present on the dais. Dr. Ratnakar Chaini, the convener of this programme, demanded to confer the highest civilian award of this country on the late Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati as he relentlessly served the poor tribals for last 40 years. The assembled sadhus performed a havan aiming to defeat the anti-national forces. At last, the meeting declared to observe a state-wide bandh on December 25.
