The BJP government in Himachal Pradesh has given a big relief to the Swayamsewaks of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh by lifting ban on the Shakhas in public places. It has also withdrawn the forteen years old notification through which the government employees were prohibited from participating RSS activities in the state. Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, has said that there was no logic in imposing such ban as the RSS is a known nationalist organisation and its dedication to nation and society is beyond doubts. Meanwhile various nationalist organisations have welcomed the government'sdecision. Talking to Organiser, Prof Dhumal said that it was Congress government who was trying to bail out Afzal Guru, a culprit of attack on Parliament from the capital punishment and simultaneously they wanted to stop the nationalist activities of the RSS. But we can not accept this doctrine. That is the reason I decided to lift the ban on RSS activities. He said that his government has people'smandate to undo the unfair policies of previous government and to ensure justice to all. We would do nothing against anybody with prejudice. But the policy of appeasement to secure vote bank would not be continued. Now the government employees are free to join RSS activities in the state and the RSS Shakhas could be organised freely in public places. It is pertinent to mention that the Congress government had imposed such ban on May 17,1994. Prof Dhumal'sdecision to lift the same has been welcomed by VHP, BMS, Hindu Jagran Manch and Himachal Pradesh Karmachaari Parisangh.
