Preparations for December 30 rally in Delhi for the protection of Ram Sethu are in full swing. More than 2000 VHP and Bajrang Dal activists are engaged in various preparations for the last one month. According to the information collected from different Prant Pramukhs, more than ten lakh Rambhaktas are expected to participate in the rally. The rally will begin at 11 am at Swarna Jayanti Park (Japani Park) in Rohini, West Delhi.

According to Shri Champatrai, joint general secretary of VHP, the Ram Sethu shilapujan yatras have proved a very effective instrument in educating people about the destruction of Ram Sethu. Lakhs of such yatras are being taken out all over the country and even in the remote villages. ?We have also recruited thousands of dharmayoddhas for the preparations of the rally and also the protection of the Rambhaktas,? he added.

Talking to Organiser in New Delhi, Shri Karuna Prakash, organising secretary of Indraprastha Vishwa Hindu Parishad (IVHP), said all temples, dharmashalas, community centres, baratghars and several schools have been booked for lodging and boarding of the Rambhaktas coming from southern states, the north-east, West Bengal, Orissa, Madhya Bharat, Maharashtra, Gujarat, etc. ?We have so far booked 1000 temples, 70 schools, 250 community centres and more than 50 dharmashalas for four days i.e. from December 28 to 31. This number is expected to increase. The people coming from neighbouring states will come from more than 10,000 vehicles the same day and will also return the same day after the rally,? he said further adding that at least five buses will come from 1500 basits of Delhi in the rally.

He pointed out that a massive mass awareness programme is being undertaken all over the country to prepare people to attend the rally. ?Prominent among such activities is the Ram Sethu shilapujan yatra. It began in Delhi on November 20 and concluded on December 16. The yatra reached 24 districts and 150 Prakhands of Delhi. Besides this, 20 lakh pamphlets are also being distributed all over Delhi to educate people about the destruction of Ram Sethu, the symbol of our great cultural heritage,? he added.

Besides making arrangements for lodging and boarding of the Rambhaktas, the IVHP has also decided to turn the whole capital saffron. All main roads of Delhi will be decorated with saffron flags and colourful lights. People will also be requested to hoist saffron flags atop their houses that day. Welcome Camps will also be established at all prominent borders of Delhi. Rambhaktas coming from the neighbouring states will be provided with water, food packets, medicines, etc. at their entry into Delhi through these camps. More than 12 lakh food packets will be collected from the families of Delhi. Only two to four food packets will be collected from one family and collection of these packets will begin on December 29.
