With the death of Ma. Krishna Ballabh Prasad Narayan Singhji, popularly known as Babuaji, on December 18 in Patna, one more activist who worked with Dr Hedgewar left for heavenly abode. He was 93. He was cremated in Patna on December 19 with full honour. RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat was among the hundreds of dignitaries who participated in the funeral and paid tribute.
Before the cremation, thousands of swayamsevaks and people belonging to various organisations of Bihar paid him tribute. At the crematorium also, thousands of people paid tribute to the departed soul. Babuaji was among the very few Sangh activists who not only closely saw but also worked with Sangh founder Dr K.B. Hedgewar. Doctorji had himself appointed him a Sanghachalak about two years prior to his death and Babuaji held this responsibility for decades.
Babuaji died due to brain haemorrhage, which he suffered on August 15. He was being treated at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS). He came under the influence of RSS at an early age and it was he who started the Sangh work in Gaya region. He had also actively taken part in the Quit India Movement for which he was lodged in the Bhagalpur jail. His active life continued even after independence and he actively took part in the Sangh agitation started against the ban on it after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi for which he was jailed. He was once again jailed in 1977 for taking part in the agitation against Emergency. His active life continued even after this and Babuaji had to go to jail once again in 1992 for joining the movement against the ban on the RSS in the aftermath of the demolition of disputed structure in Ayodhya.
Babuaji was also active in the field of education, art and culture and he had his credit efficient running of the Nalanda College in Biharsharif. He was also associated with a famous cinema hall of Patna. A condolence meeting was held in the Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir on December 20 to pay respect to the departed soul. Meanwhile, condolence messages continued to pour in after the news of his death was flashed. BJP spokesperson, Shri Ravishanker Prasad, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Sushil Kumar Modi and former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dr C. P. Thakur also expressed shock over the death of Babuaji.
Paying tribute to Babuaji in New Delhi, Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat described him as an ideal swayamsevak to be remembered everyday. ?Babuaji was like a banyan tree of Sangh work in Bihar. He joined the Sangh in the age of 24 and continued to work till he breathed his last. He was fully dedicated for the well-being of the swayamsevaks. I was sent to Bihar from Maharashtra in 1994. Being Ma. Babuaji there I never felt alone in the state. I was in Bihar till the year 2000 and during this period he looked after me as he used to look after his family members. Thinking about all with equal love was the charismatic aspect of Babuaji'spersonality. Merely his presence in the state was inspiration for all the swayamsevaks. In fact, Babuaji was an ideal example of how a Sanghachalak should be. As an ordinary swayamsevak and also as a Sanghachalak he lived the personal and social life, which became an ideal for all. He is witness to the beginning of the Sangh work in Bihar. Now his departure would cause pain to everybody. Though the Sangh work will continue, his absence will realise a vacuum,? he added.
