Swami Vivekananda left his physical body 104 years back, but the patriotic tsunami awakened by him has not still stopped in the hearts and intellects of the youth generations in length and breadth of India. The very example one can see how the youth of Delhi celebrated his 144th birth anniversary on January 21 in Delhi. Students from various schools, colleges, IIT of Delhi gathered for the birthday celebration of their bellowed inspiring master. The subject selected for speech was related to youth itself??Influence of Media on Youth?.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Chandan Mitra, editor of the Pioneer, said Swami Vivekananda might not have thought what the hundreds of satellite channels and newspapers are prominently publishing and displaying today. He said the people are blindly imitating the media, while channels lively telecasted the hanging of Saddam Hussein, by aping the hanging some people lost their lives in India and Middle East. He said the television channels and newspapers, those are coming to our houses, awaken the tamasik instincts in the mind and intellect of the people and pollute the thought process of the society in an extensive manner. He said through the right kind of education this challenge can be countered. He said this deformity and perversion should be opposed by people. He said Swami Vivekananda had paved the way for spiritual and secular education, which is able to counter these challenges. He said there is a need to have a modern education system incorporating the values of Indian society and culture. It is our responsibility to begin a nationwide movement for fair, transparent and healthy education system throughout the country.
Dr Surendra Prasad, director of IIT Delhi, said by the best utilisation of positive factors prevailing in the country, we could fulfill the dreams of Swamiji. He said all the things in the world have certain meaning. If our thoughts are beautiful all becomes beautiful. Joint general secretary of Vivekananda Kendra, Shri Pravin V. Dabholkar said the Kendra has been trying to fulfill the dreams of Swamiji. Shri Ramesh Chandra Gupta presided over the function. (FOC)
