Giving a hard slap on the face of the DYFI and separatist NDF, who protested Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi'svisit to Thiruvananthapuram by observing ?black day? and burning his effigies, thousands of men, women and children thronged Puthrikandam Maidan, the venue of Hindu Mahamela on January 29 despite the tightest ever security. The DYFI and CPM by their foolish actions, aimed at garnering Muslim votes, became comic caricatures in the eyes of Kerala Hindus, who cutting across caste, creed, gender, age, social and economic barriers, over-flowed the roads of the capital city, to have a glimpse of the roaring lion of Hindutva, virtually converting it into a saffron sea.
Inaugurating the Mahamela, organised as part of Shri Guruji Janma Shatabdi celebrations, by lighting a huge lamp, Shri Modi thundered: ?I am first a swayamsevak nurtured by Shri Guruji and then only a Chief Minister.? Stating that it was a honour to come to Kerala, the land with surplus rain and greenery all around, Shri Modi said that the rich culture and art, centred around temples have been guided by saints like Adi Sankara, Vidyadiraja Swami and Sree Narayana Guru, since ancient times. ?During the time of Shri Guruji very few people had knowledge of his work or RSS, but due to the foundations laid by him, his organisation and its message have reached all corners of the world. RSS is the largest movement in the world. Taking strength from Shri Guruji, be it the Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari or the Vanvasi schools in the interior north-east, the Sangh has reached everywhere.?
?Setting aside all personal work and problems, lakhs of swayamsevaks are managing schools, hospitals and service activities in times of calamities. RSS is always at the doorstep of Bharat'sDaridranarayan. Swami Vivekananda asked the youth of Bharat to spend some time for the nation, but inspired from Shri Guruji who spent his entire life for Hindu samaj, lakhs of swayamsevaks are giving their entire time and energy for taking the nation to the highest pinnacle of universal glory. I, as a blessed swayam-sevak, who has had the fortune to participate in Shri Guruji'sbaithaks, am also carrying work in Gujarat in the same direction,? Shri Modi said.
?Religious fundamentalism is being used emotionally to further extremism and terrorism. The concept of ?semeticism? is the cause for all this. In Hindu thought, we believe all paths lead to the same god, Ekam sat viprah bahuda vadanti. Only Hindu chintan can root out terrorism from the world. Similarly protection of nature and environment is a major problem facing the universe. The Hindu chintan considers nature a cow, only to be milked, not destroyed. We believe in sustainable development and nature'sbalance. The Prithvi Suktam in our Vedas amply demonstrates it. Our relation with nature is like that of a family. We seek apology, early morning, before stamping on mother earth. Trees, rivers cows, etc. are mother to us, universe is our father and sun, moon uncle and grandfather. The rivers have become polluted, the day we consider it water just H2O. Whether political parties acknowledge it or not, whether pseudo-secularists agree or not, the nation and Hindus are one. Only if Hindus develop, nation will develop. Unity of Hindus will strengthen the nation.?
Speaking on ?Gujarat Gaurav? and ?Vibrant Gujarat?, Shri Modi said, taking blessings of Shri Guruji, Mahatma Phule, Gandhiji and Ambedkar, persons doing inter-caste marriages are publically honoured and given Rs. 50,000. ?The GoI has lauded this and asked other states to emulate us. To create unity in villages, gram panchayats and sarpanchs are elected unanimously under ?Samaras Gram Yojana?. Vanvasis, who constitute 15 per cent, are given state and central funds directly. Both have been lauded by GoI. Every year 3,000 cotton farmers are committing suicide in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, but new Maruti cars are standing in front of farmers? houses in Gujarat. Twenty-one rivers are integrated in Gujarat and sacred Saraswati river is made alive. The agricultural income has increased from Rs. 9,000 crore to Rs. 34,000 crore. Under ?Jyoti Gram?, 100 per cent villages are having 24 hours power supply. We have got investments worth Rs. 4.60 lakh crore, which will generate 12 lakh more jobs. Gujarat has 1,600-km-long coastline like Kerala. About 80 per cent of India'sprivate cargo comes into Gujarat. Due to Bangladesh, Assam is in trouble, but due to Gujarat, Pakistan is in trouble. Defence Minister Antony says, Kerala'scoast is in trouble, but Gujarat'scoast is secure and lauded by the Centre. Around 12 lakh Keralaites are living in Gurajat and 15 people in my office are Malayalis.?
Concluding his speech Shri Modi thundered, ?From this holy stage, I challenge all parties, governments, politicians for a debate on development. In Gujarat an ordinary swayamsevak of RSS is toiling to make Gujarat the number one state in the country. Fight me, but not nation'sprogress. I seek the blessings of Keralaites and Sabarimala Ayyappa, Guruvayoor Krishna, Lord Padmanabha for giving me new strength to take Gujarat and nation forward.?
Delivering his address RSS leader and Bharatiya Vichara Kendram Director Padmashri P. Parameswaran said that by protesting against Modi'svisit, CPM has converted atithi devo bhava into atiti shatru bhava. ?In 1948 when 400 swayamsevaks had gathered at Thycaud Maidan to welcome Shri Guruji, Leftists had shouted ?Golwalkar go back?, today when lakhs had assembled to hear Shri Modi, ?Modi go back?, is the slogan. CPM has not changed, but the RSS of 2007 is not the RSS of 1948. It is a huge banyan tree with branches spread all over the globe. In Tirur, Pinarayi Vijayan has said, we do not want to learn development from Modi. During British rule a wagon tragedy took place in Tirur (Malappuram), where hundreds died. But another wagon tragedy took place in Godhra where 100 Hindus were burnt alive. For vote-banks, has CPM forgotten it? The Jews have lived in Kerala for 2000 years and Parsis in Gujarat for 1400 years. They have merged in Bharatiya samaj. Bharat'sidentity and pride and Kerala'sidentity and pride are intermingled. Our culture is not a religious one. It is all embracing.
Shri Parameswaran said globalisation, consumerism, communism, communalism and criminalism are shattering Kerala'sculture. ?Guns, swords and pistols are freely available and even Cardinal Mar Varkey Vidayathil has warned that Kerala will become Islamic state in 20 years. If Kerala loses its Hindu identity, it will become another Kashmir or Nagaland. Kerala needs a sculptor of modern state like Shri Narendra Modi of Gujarat. We need development based on culture and traditions?, Shri Parameswaran concluded.
VHP general secretary, Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan spoke on the injustices heaped on Hindus by both LDF and UDF and the proposed Devaswom Ordinance, which will bring temples under direct government control.
