Despite the well-publicised ?Project Tiger?, the population of the tiger, the most iconic and secretive creature on earth is on the decline. In India, where nearly 60 per cent of the world'stigers live, the population has fallen from 100,000 to 3,600 as of today. Many sceptics feel that the true figure is even less.
While a study conducted by conservationists of ?Save the Tiger Fund? have advocated the need for holding a ?Tiger Summit? involving the heads of 13 countries, in an unusual bid to promote the cause of protection and conservation of animals, a new mode has been devised by an environmentalist and activist Sandeep Waraich who is also a musician. An album of his songs was recently released in Mumbai by group of retired armymen, who had participated in the Bangladesh liberation war.
The album called ?Tiger? highlights the plight of this beautiful animal. The fact that tigers have been mercilessly killed or hunted and faces an uncertain future has prodded these armymen as also singer Sandeep Waraich to stress on the importance of preservation of endangered animals and thus ?save the tiger, save the environment, save life?.
The album which is in the four of a CD has been produced by Shivalik Films and costs rupees 99 only.
