Shri Devraj, 50 who is a RSS karyakarta and is working in the State Bank of Mysore, Bangalore is now a ?walking warrior? for the interlinking of rivers in India. He started his yatra from Kanyakumari on the auspicious day of Swami Vivekananda'sbirthday, i.e. January12.

Shri Devraj has found this way to create awareness among the people regarding the benefits of interlinking of rivers.

Shri Devraj is greatly inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda who had said that one should do something for the development of one'scountry.

He would be reaching Delhi on August 15, covering a distance of about 3,000 kilometers. He has already covered two states namely Kerala and Tamil Nadu and has now entered Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to Samachar Bharati about his mission Shri Devraj said, ?Interlinking of river would help the country in more ways than one. We can solve the problems of irrigation and drinking water by interlinking of rivers. This would enable to recharge the 50,000 small lakes across the country. India has more than12 lakh hectares of cultivable land but due to inadequate water resources we are unable to use it to its fullest.? He said ?it is time that government should take appropriate steps in this respect. Proper funds should be allocated for this noble cause.?

Shri Devraj further said that he and his guru Dr Kalyanraman have worked out on this entire project. The need of the hour is to link 30 big rivers of the country. He also added that a separate committee to implement interlinking of rivers should be formed.
