Vishwa Hindu Parishad has warned the UPA government to refrain from Muslim appeasement. In a statement issued in New Delhi, senior VHP leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore said the government'sreply to the Librahan Commission during the election period proves that the government has done it with an eye on Muslim votes. ?It is for this purpose that the government has levelled allegations against the VHP and other RSS-associated organisations. The fact is that Islamic fundamentalists have developed unrest all over the world. Over 30,000 temples were demolished in India but Hindus have reinstated the deities in just three of them. Ranoji Shinde through the government help renovated the Mahakaal temple of Ujjain, which was demolished by Iltumish of Ghulam dynasty. Similarly, the Somnath temple, which was demolished by Mahmood Ghazani, was renovated with the efforts of Sardar Patel after independence. The holy places of Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi were also demolished. But it was for the first time that the people of India stood and removed the blemish of 460 years. This work was done by Hindu society and the VHP, on behalf of Hindu society, owns its responsibility,? he said, adding that Muslims should have respected the sentiments of Hindus. ?Still it is not too late,? he further added.
