Healing touch too many
FOC

Who gave the ?healing touch? concept to the people of Kashmir? None other than the Congress party, claims Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The day he took over the chief ministership of the State, Ghulam Nabi Azad said the concept of healing touch was coined by the Congress party. But the fact is that when their junior partner Mufti Mohd Sayeed of PDP was ruling the state during the first half, as per the agreement with Congress, Mufti'sdaughter Mehbooba Mufti was blowing ?healing touch? trumpet in full throttle. At that time Congress party never staked the claim for healing touch. Azad, after meeting Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil briefed the newspersons and said that the ??healing touch? was Congress party's?baby? and we know how to save our baby?. Believe it or not the ?healing touch? sooner or later will become bone of contention between the PDP and the Congress. PDP, during its ruling time, popularised the healing touch and it percolated down to the masses, which certainly helped in expanding the PDP'snetwork to every nook and corner of the state.

Believe it or not the ?healing touch? sooner or later will become bone of contention between PDP and Congress.

Why is the Congress party harping on the same concept? It is quite evident that the Congress party is left with no slogan for the people of Kashmir. Healing touch was an appealing slogan for the people of Kashmir, used thoroughly by the PDP. Interestingly, so far PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has not reacted to Azad'sstatement. However, she has sharply criticised Azad'sstatement on involvement of militants in talks only after they leave the guns. Such statements and counter-statements are sowing seeds of mistrust between the two partners?the PDP and the Congress?in the state.
