The first all India conference of VHP'sMutt-Mandir wing, held in Hyderabad from November 12 to 13, expressed serious concern over the acquisition of temple land by the government and also extending it to Muslims and Christians. About 80 senior workers including Prant Pramukh of Mutt-Mandirs attended the meeting. Prominent among those present were Sadguru Swami Shivanand Murti, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Sudhirdas, Shri G. Pulla Reddy, VHP'streasurer, Shri Mohandhar Diwan, convenor of the Mutt-Mandir wing, Shri Venkat Narayan of Acharya Sabha, Shri Raghvalu and Shri Khemchand Sharma, both VHP central secretaries.

The conference stressed that temple administration should be transparent and accountable to the devotees. ?All sections of the society irrespective of their gender, caste or creed must feel like participating in temple activities freely and get the feeling that they have a say in caring for and maintaining the temple as well as fostering temple culture,? said a resolution passed at the meeting, adding that temples must not be treated as sources of commercial exploitation, nor should their managements acquire, overt or covert political hue.
