Bangladesh Rifles often resort to unprovoked firing with the purpose of either stalling work on border fencing or distracting BSF personnel so that illegal migrants can sneak across. On April 16, an Assistant Commandant and a constable of BSF, on duty at Lankamura outpost on India-Bangladesh border, 8 km from Agartala, were dragged into Bangladesh territory. By the time the BSF could get them back, Assistant Commandant Jiwan Kumar was brutally murdered. In the picture (above) the body of Jiwan Kumar is being retrieved.
