Shubhangi Damale is quite happy with the appreciation she received from the people for her lead role in the film Tejtapaswini. The film is made on the life of Lakshmibai Kelkar, the founder of Rashtra Sevika Samiti. Talking to Organsier during the premier of the film in New Delhi, she said she had very interesting experience while working in the film.
?When I was selected to play the lead role of Lakshmibai Kelkar, I was unable to decide, as she was a great personality. I had never seen her or her work. But before going ahead, I read her biography many times. The Samiti work also impressed me greatly and I wholeheartedly found myself attached to the Samiti. I started the work with full faith in her work. Mausiji'slife in itself is an inspiration that inspired me too. This is the reason I could act as per people'saspirations,? she said.
When asked what impressed her the most in the life of Lakshmibai Kelkar, Smt. Damale said that Lakshmibai'sthinking on women impressed her the most. ?Another aspect that I liked the most was that she used to practise first what she said or preached. For example, before imparting physical training to Sevikas, she herself learnt all the physical exercises and then taught the other Sevikas. Before acting in the film, I myself learnt those physical exercises like kharag, lathi, etc.,? she added.
