Hike excise exemption—LUB

FOC

The Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) has asked the Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, to increase the Central excise exemption limit for Small Scale Industries (SSIs) from Rs one crore to two crore as there has been an overall increase in the cost of all inputs, specially in steel including wages. The LUB president, Balwant Rai Gupta, has requested the Finance Minister to consider representation of SSI as director in various boards of the banks to look after the increase in SSI units and to create a market-development fund to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore so as to discourage competition and globalisation of products.
