When friends and relatives in Bharat greet each other they say namaste by joining their palms together. No wonder, one is astonished to see growing number of Westerners who are now following the great culture of Hinduism by joining their palms while greeting others. Of late it has been realised worldwide that the traditional way of greeting the Indian way makes more hygienic sense. Even the church in America has announced that germs are passed by shaking hands and has warned to “desist from shaking hands”. But the English-medium schools in India are not in a position to teach the young impressionable children to adopt the more dignified namaskar way of greeting. And of course, the pseudo-secular politicians also desist from promoting the Indian way of greeting as a foreign lady now controls the remote.
