?The family members of martyrs and soldiers should be given fair reverence. Honour to soldiers is indeed an honour for the nation,? said Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Uttaranchal BJP president, while speaking at a meeting of ex-servicemen. He said the experiences of ex-servicemen should be utilised for security and progress of the society. ?It is the duty of every citizen to pay their heartiest homage to martyrs and soldiers,? he said.

Shri Koshyari said people of Uttaranchal wanted to get rid of the Congress misrule in the state as the state government had failed to fulfill the aspirations of the public. ?Genuine demands of ex-servicemen are being ignored by this government. Soldiers of a country are its greatest asset. They are its very life and soul. The history of a country centres on its soldiers. They are the symbols of national destiny. Their noble deeds and sacrifice serve as an unerring guide on the journey of life. Their patriotism coupled with their stamina, strength of character, self-sacrifice and hard work make them really great. Our soldiers are known all over the world for their bravery and courage,? Shri Koshyari added.

Col. P.D. Kudiyal, president, state BJP ex-soldiers? cell, said that ex-servicemen had been joining BJP as they were getting inspired by the nationalistic ideology of the party. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were Sahadev Pundir, BJP district president, Trivendra Rawat, BJP MLA, Chandan Lal Aggarwal, former chairman of Vikasnagar municipality and senior party activists like Rajendra Singh Tomar, Arun Mittal and Capt. Hayat Singh Chauhan. Col. Raghunath Bisht presided over the function. Shri Romy Bajaj was convener of the function.
