The senior Congress Councillor and former Delhi University Students Union president, Shalu Malik, has said that the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM), an associated organisation of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Talking to mediapersons in Delhi, Smt. Malik said that the SJM was following the path of self-reliance as shown by the Mahatma. ?This is the reason why we have invited it for the Gandhi Jayanti Mela organised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on September 28,? she said. The other RSS associated organisation, Sewa Bharati, was also invited to participate in the five-day Mela, which was inaugurated by Delhi Lieutenant-Governor, B.L. Joshi. ?Though, we might not be agreeing with their ideology, their works like candle-making and imparting professional training to the unemployed youth and encouraging the needy was following Gandhi'sideals of self-reliance,? she said.
