“Shri Guruji’s life is an ideal for us and also for the society. His personality, works and views are the views of Hindutva. What Dr Hedgewar had said, Shri Guruji has showed through his conduct. Dr Hedgewar’s views, which we received as a priceless legacy, constituted the essence of the views expressed by the eminent and great personalities of the country before him. Therefore, it is the need of the hour that these views should reach to the whole society as per the changing scenario of the society,” said Shri Mohanrao Bhagwat, Sarkaryavah of RSS. He was inaugurate the office for the publication of the complete works of Shri Guruji that have been published in Hindi in 12 volumes. Shri Bhagwat also released a book by Shri M.G. Vaidya, Shri Guruji: Ek Anokha Netritva.

Stating that the Sangh had decided to publish a large collection of Shri Guruji’s views, personality and works in 12 volumes instead of creating any memorial made of bricks and stones, Shri Bhagwat said: “Besides Hindi and English, the 4,500-page Shri Guruji Samagra Darshan would be published in almost all Indian languages. It will also include small booklets, memorial lectures, etc. The ultimate aim of all these efforts will be the expansion of Sangh work. The best memorial to Shri Guruji would be that his views and samskars are practised in real life by all the Swayamsevaks.”

Pointing out that Shri Guruji was against the creation of memorials, the Sarkaryavah said that he would say that RSS work was not to propagate the name of any individual. In his last letter too he had said that Sangh work was not individual-centric, but objective-centric. “Therefore, organising exhibitions of Shri Guruji’s pictures, constructing memorials, naming buildings or roads after him during his birth centenary would be against his views and ideals. During his birth centenary year (2006), we need to take his views and characteristics of his personality to the maximum number of people and make the Sangh work so strong that it can lead the entire society,” he added. The Gujarat Prant Sanghchalak, Dr Amritbhai Kariwala, Prant Pracharak, Dr Manmohan Vaidya and Prant Karyavah, Shri Sunilbhai Mehta were also present on the occasion.
