?The old, the orphans and the helpless people should not be left at the mercy of the government, which has a number of limitations as well as drawbacks in the system. The society has to come forward and contribute towards service of these people as it is an inherent quality of Indian culture, which is found nowhere in the Western countries,? said noted thinker, K.N. Govindacharya. He was speaking at a function organised by Divya Prem Seva Mission, an organisation dedicated to the service of lepers, in Haridwar. He commended the services being rendered by the Divya Prem Seva Ashram in alleviating the problems of the lepers.

Shri Govindacharya said that the family plays a very dominant role in the Indian culture and the mother has the most significant role in the family as she is the pivot of the family. He said, ?The most remarkable aspect of the family is the love and affection and feeling?the responsibility that the brother has towards his sister, the mother'slove and responsibility to her children, husband'sresponsibility to his wife and the same of children to their parents. This characteristic of the family is not seen anywhere in the world.? He regretted that man was the only creature who destroys creation. ?Other creatures do not harm others until they are harmed, but man is the only creature who harms others for no reason or for serving his own selfish aim.? According to Govindacharya, ?The most lovable citizen of the society is one who holds a positive thinking towards his family, society and the nation.?

Speaking at the function, famous kathavachak, Atul Krishna Bhardwaj said that Lord Rama should serve as an ideal for every family. ?Lord Rama performed his duty to his family as best as he could. We should try to emulate his ideals, which are a source of inspiration for all of us,? he added.
