The senior leader of BJP, Smt. Sushma Swaraj and her husband Swaraj Kaushal took a very strong decision to protect national honour in the face of the prospect of Smt. Sonia Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister. They jointly threatened to resign and not to enter the Parliament House until Sonia remained Prime Minister. Smt. Swaraj even went to the extent of declaring that she would get her head tonsured, wear white clothes and sleep on the floor till Sonia Gandhi remained Prime Minister. Thousands of her supporters from Uttaranchal, the state that Smt. Swaraj represents in Rajya Sabha, gathered at her residence and extended their support in her protest against a foreign-born becoming Prime Minister.
