P

Congress spokesman, Kapil Sibal would not listen to any logic. If the incident would be the beginning of an end to the support Congress is extending to the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, Sibal was at his best saying Yadav had committed a mistake by taking sides with Tandon, but that does not merit taking the political decision of severing a relationship. About the Prime Minister he says that he deserves to be congratulated for his immediate decision to grant compensation to the families of the victims, but it should have been more.

Sibal too needs to be congratulated for the right words, politicking apart. The tragedy certainly it was. It also exposed the callous attitude of the organisers. Such functions need to be held with more skill and caution. And why should one make a grand show of a noble gesture? The donors could have gone to the beneficiaries and given the gift. The Indian ´data´ (donor) has a tradition of remaining in the oblivion. That needs to be emulated.
