The Coimbatore court has awarded double life sentence to six Muslim terrorists, H. Abudhahir (25), M. Shajahan (23), Y. Sirajudeen (25), M. Abbas (29), Abdul Nasser (29) and M. Abdul Hakeem, for killing a RSS worker, R. Murugesan (24) in Coimbatore on March 23, 2002. The punishment by the court was declared on February 12, 2004. Murugesan, was a third year trained Swayamsevak and a full-time Pracharak from 1992 to 1997. He had worked in the Muslim dominated areas of Ambur and Vaniambadi and also in Tirupattur and Vellore areas of Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. He had concentrated especially on the upliftment of the downtrodden in the backward areas. It was due to his efforts more than 500 people of Ambur and Vaniambadi areas restored from the clutches of drugs and drink. Murugesan also sustained campaign for blood and eye donations cultivated more than 1000 blood donors in these talukas. As per his wishes his eyes were donated after his death through the Arvind Eye Hospital. Even in this melancholy situation, his family had offered to donate his kidneys also, but unfortunately, they were badly damaged due to the brutal attack. (VSK)
