The Himalaya Parivar, a social organisation dedicated to the cause of protecting the Himalayas and its ancient culture, organised a seminar in New Delhi on February 22 to remind the leadership of the country to implement the resolution that the Indian Parliament had passed on February 22, 1994. It resolved to take back the land occupied by Pakistan in 1947 and since then no efforts have been made in this regard. Senior politician Prof. Balraj Madhok, Islamic scholar, Maulana Wahiddudin Khan, Air Martial (Retd) Ramesh Vajpayee were among the prominent speakers at the seminar.
Introducing the subject, organising secretary of Himalaya Parivar, Girish Juyal demanded the Government to initiate discussion with the Government of Pakistan to make the pilgrimage to Sharda Mandir situated in Krishna Ganga near Muzaffrabad, now in Pakistan. He also urged the Government to accelerate the efforts to take back the land occupied by Pakistan after the attack of 1947. Though, despite a unanimous resolution in the Parliament, the Government has not taken any concrete step in this regard. The time has come when the Government and the society should work hand-in-hand to take back our land,? he said.
Prof. Balraj Madhok emphasised that if Pt. Nehru had allowed Sardar Patel to resolve the Kashmir issue, the situation would not have taken such a complicated turn. Shri Shah Mohammad Khan urged the government to put pressure on Pakistan to destroy the terrorist training camps being operated in POK. Maulana Wahiddudin Khan said Islam does not teach separatisms and those who are involved in separatist activities in the name of Islam are its enemy. He said the Muslims should treat their countries as their motherland. (FOC)
