?Ashok Singhal

?The personality of Shri Guruji cannot be explained in words. He was really an epoch-maker. Dr Hedgewar had handed over him the responsibility of the Sangh realising the rare qualities in him,? said VHP working president, Ashok Singhal speaking at a function organised by the Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) in New Delhi to celebrate the birth anniversary of second Sarsanghchalak of RSS, M.S. Golwalkar better known as Shri Guruji. RSS Sahsarkaryavah Madan Das and senior BJP leader J.P. Mathur were among the special invitees at the function.

?I am lucky to have the opportunity to see Shri Guruji closely in my young age. He had no desire of publicity. Once he was delivering a speech when a photographer tried to click his photograph, Shri Guruji covered his face with a towel. The photo was published in newspapers. He used to tell that he feels mental and physical pain due to publicity,? In reminiscence, Shri Singhal said that once when Shri Guruji was in jail, he could not perform parikrama of the country; so he remembered the Swayamsevaks in the jail and completed his parikrama.

RSS Sahsarkaryavah Madan Das said that the new generation of the Sangh could not get much acquaintance with Guruji as the old generation had. He said Shri Guruji always emphasised on daily shakha and priorities of the Sangh in his speeches. ?He used to ask so many questions to Sawayamsevaks at the Sangh Shiksha Varga and all the questions were related to the daily shakha. He was not bothered of the big programmes. He used to concentrate only on the number of shakhas and what activity takes place there,? Madan Das said adding that Shri Guruji took the decisions as per the requirements of time. ?About the Sangh work he used to opine that the more the expansion of shakha, the more samskars the society will get,? he said.

Presiding over the function, Shri J.P. Mathur said Shri Guruji had a sharp eye on all the developments of the society. He sent Deendayalji in politics with a specific purpose. Bringing all Shankaracharyas at one platform and that too under the banner of Vishwa Hindu Parishad was not an ordinary task, he said. Organising Secretary of DRI, Abhay Mahajan proposed a vote of thanks. (FOC)
