THE Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is going to initiate a strong student movement in Uttaranchal to harness the students? intelligence and youthful vigour for the national cause and also to invoke in them the highest values of Indian culture, said Dr D.P. Joshi, the State ABVP President while speaking at the training camp of ABVP workers held in Dehradun. Dr Joshi said the Parishad, which looks upon the student, teacher, parent and management as members of one harmonious educational family, has become the largest student organisation of the country. Involvement of student-power in rural reconstruction and enlightening and activating them to fight social evils like untouchability, dowry etc, are another important contributions of the Parishad to the society. Dr Joshi appealed the students to devote a few years of their life in the service of the motherland. State Vice President, Harish Chandra Upreti, informed that the ABVP has become a well-knit organisation with the active participation of thousands of students and hundreds of full timers, professors and lecturers all over the country.
