Thrissur: Police stopped activists of the Catholic Laymen’sAssociation who marched into the venue of CBCI General Body Meeting at Marymatha Major Seminary at Mulayam. The activists were demanding ?an end to autocratic attitude of Bishops and Human Rights infringement of the faithful by the Church authorities?. The activists also questioned the propriety of the lavish spending by the Church authorities to conduct the meet. ?The Bishops should accept the right of layman over the Church and its properties. Anti-Bible canon should be abolished. They should also abandon Chaldeanisation of Mar Thoma Christians?, Association Secretary George Maliakkel said. ?The Bishops, who claim as descendants of apostles, should stay away from temporal matters and stick to spiritual affairs?, he added. Joseph Pulikkunnel, P.J. Mathai, Joy Michael also spoke at the protest meeting.
