Mathura: Mathura is glowing in anticipation of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, as the sacred Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mandir has been illuminated and beautifully decorated ahead of the grand celebrations marking the 5,253rd birth anniversary of Bhagwan Krishna.
The Mandir complex has been adorned with colourful lights and intricate decorations, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere for the thousands of devotees arriving from across the country.
According to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Secretary Kapil Sharma, special attention has been given to the Mandir’s interior decoration to create an ethereal experience for devotees. The design has been conceived so that it appears as though Bhagwan Krishna is giving darshan in the gentle glow of moonlight.

As the festival draws closer, the spiritual energy across Mathura is intensifying. Devotees continued to throng the Krishna Janmasthan and other prominent religious sites until late September 2 evening, with the streets witnessing a steady rise in footfall.
The preparations have also brought a festive boom to the markets surrounding the Janmabhoomi. Shops are witnessing increasing crowds, with devotees purchasing colourful costumes for Bhagwan Krishna and Laddu Gopal, along with puja materials, prasad and other items associated with the festival.
Shopkeepers said the number of visitors arriving from outside Mathura has been steadily increasing as Janmashtami approaches, adding to the vibrant festive atmosphere.
With huge crowds expected during the celebrations, the police and local administration have stepped up security arrangements across the city. Police personnel have been deployed along major roads, intersections and religious sites, particularly around the Krishna Janmabhoomi complex.
Authorities are closely monitoring crowd movement and traffic to ensure that devotees can participate in the celebrations safely and smoothly.
From the illuminated Janmabhoomi Mandir to the bustling markets and devotional streets, Mathura and the wider Braj region are preparing to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami in a wave of faith and festivity.
