Congress smears paint on Telangana BJP office, attacks Nalgonda leader’s home; N Ramchander Rao warns of reply

Following an attack on the Telangana BJP headquarters and a leader's residence by Congress workers, state BJP leaders condemned the violence and demanded that Rahul Gandhi and CM Revanth Reddy take responsibility, calling it a diversion from pending student fee reimbursement issues.

Hyderabad, Aug 31: The Telangana State BJP headquarters in Hyderabad, along with the residence of Nalgonda District President Dr. Nagam Varshith Reddy, came under direct attack by Congress workers, triggering widespread condemnation from the top BJP state leadership. During the assault, Congress cadres threw black paint on the state party office, attacked staff, vandalized furniture at Dr. Varshith Reddy’s residence, and injured his elderly mother.

State BJP leaders declared that these attacks are a cowardly reaction by the ruling Congress, which is unable to digest the growing popularity of the BJP among the youth and public in Telangana. The leadership demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy take full responsibility and immediately issue an apology.

Leading the charge, BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao termed the attack on the party office and leaders’ residences a cowardly act. He accused the Congress party of resorting to low-level conspiracies to divert public attention from its governing failures.

“Thousands of students and youth turned up in full support of the recent agitation organized by the BJP demanding pending fee reimbursement dues and solutions to student grievances. This movement sent a clear signal that the youth stand firmly with the BJP in its fight against anti-people policies,” Rao said.

Lambasting affiliate wings NSUI and Youth Congress, Rao stated that throwing black paint on the BJP state office, laying siege to leaders’ residences, and plotting attacks on the RSS office demonstrate utter foolishness. He criticized Rahul Gandhi, urging him to get his facts straight before speaking and accusing the Congress party of misleading the nation’s youth over unrelated events.

“The BJP is exercising restraint, but if its cadres choose to retaliate and give a fitting reply, Congress leaders and workers will not even be able to walk on the roads in the state,” Rao warned, demanding an immediate halt to all attacks.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy strongly condemned the assault on the party headquarters and Dr. Varshith Reddy’s residence, questioning whether raising public issues invites physical violence.

“Using power to attack opposition party offices, barging into residences, vandalizing property, and injuring Dr. Varshith Reddy’s elderly mother is proof of the moral bankruptcy of the Congress rulers,” Kishan Reddy said. He noted that the Congress orchestrated this violence to divert attention away from major governance failures, including pending student fee reimbursement dues, 22A land scams, and commission deals. Demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits, he warned: “Do not mistake our restraint for weakness. If anyone targets BJP leaders and workers in the future, the consequences will be severe.”

BJP State General Secretary Dr. N. Goutham Rao asserted that the Congress resorted to anti-democratic violence out of fear of defeat and growing political frustration over the rising popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.

“Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy must take full responsibility for this attack and apologize immediately,” Dr. Goutham Rao demanded. “Our cadres have a history of facing Naxalite attacks without backing down. If our workers decide, they could stop the Chief Minister’s convoy and office, but we have utmost faith in democracy and the rule of law.”

Highlighting the student crisis, Dr. Goutham Rao stated that the non-release of fee reimbursement funds is pushing poor students away from higher education. Backed by massive student support from the state president’s two-day hunger strike, he announced that the BJP will hold a Maha Dharna at Indira Chowk, Hyderabad, on September 7 to fight for students’ rights until justice is delivered.

Telangana BJP Chief Official Spokesperson and Media In-charge NV Subhash condemned the attack on office staff, noting with concern that the violence occurred in the presence of the police.

Subhash stated that even as the Congress government completes 1,000 days in power, promises made to students, the unemployed, farmers, and women remain unfulfilled. He pointed out that around 20 lakh students are suffering due to delayed fee reimbursements. When State President N. Ramchander Rao sought an appointment with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to resolve student grievances, it was denied, and the government instead turned to physical attacks.

“Keep your cadres in check. If BJP cadres and Yuva Morcha resolve to act, they will not let you step into the CMO or Gandhi Bhavan. However, without resorting to physical violence, the BJP will teach Congress a fitting lesson through democratic means,” Subhash said.
