JABALPUR: “Vidya Bharati must not limit itself to examination results. We have to give every child the sanskar of Bharat’s soil and Bharat’s traditions, so that every child grows into an exemplary citizen, ready to dedicate himself to his family, society and nation with a sense of belonging,” said RSS Sah Sarkaryawah Dr Krishna Gopal, while addressing the concluding session of Vidya Bharati’s three-day executive meeting in Jabalpur. Dr Krishna Gopal said that students in Vidya Bharati schools achieved more than 95 per cent success in this year’s board examinations.
He said that besides bookish knowledge, children must develop a spiritual outlook. With this objective, Vidya Bharati schools follow the concept of Panchakosha development in their educational approach. This provides the foundation for envisioning the holistic development of children.
Dr Krishna Gopal said it was a matter of satisfaction that Vidya Bharati is fulfilling its responsibility in the implementation of the National Education Policy. Going forward, Vidya Bharati should continue playing a supportive role in the field of education across the country while imparting values alongside education.
He called upon the organisation to make efforts to expand its work across the entire geographical expanse of Bharat.
Akhil Bharatiya Mahamantri Deshraj Sharma presented details of the expansion of Vidya Bharati’s work. He said the organisation is currently working across 685 districts in the country.
He said approximately 24,000 formal and informal schools are functioning across the country, with around 37 lakh students enrolled this year. More than 1.70 lakh teachers are engaged in teaching.
Vidya Bharati also operates 280 residential schools and 1,041 tribal schools across the country, he said.
Giving details of upcoming all-India events, Sharma said the Akhil Bharatiya Sports Meet will be held in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh; the Akhil Bharatiya Sanskriti Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, Haryana; the Akhil Bharatiya Vigyan Mela in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh; the Akhil Bharatiya Ganit Mela in Dhanbad, Jharkhand; and Akhil Bharatiya Techathon-3 at IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand.
Presiding over the meeting, Vidya Bharati National President Dr Ravindra Kanhere said that during the three-day meeting, the organisation thoroughly reviewed its work.
He said the work has certainly become more effective, but several challenges remain. Vidya Bharati must now move forward with the digitalisation of its schools and continuously strive to remain at the forefront of implementing the National Education Policy.
He said Vidya Bharati will soon complete 75 years, describing this journey as a reflection of the transition from ‘India’ to ‘Bharat’.
“We should continue moving forward while making this journey joyful,” he said.
