Amaravati, May 26: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 process for electoral rolls has commenced in Andhra Pradesh, with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) briefing representatives of various political parties on the schedule, procedures and verification process during a meeting held at the AP Secretariat in Velagapudi on May 26.

As part of the exercise, Enumeration Forms (EFs) are being distributed to nearly 4.16 crore electors across the state through 46,397 Booth Level Officers (BLOs). The Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) are supplying partially pre-filled forms based on electoral records as on May 25, 2026, and BLOs are carrying out door-to-door distribution to voters listed in the electoral rolls.

The Election Commission has also made the forms available online at https://voters.eci.gov.in, while Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties can submit up to 50 certified forms per day.

Officials clarified that voters whose names are already present in the electoral rolls only need to submit the Enumeration Form along with the extract of the electoral roll and are not required to provide any additional documents. BLOs will issue acknowledgement receipts while collecting the forms. An online submission facility for the forms is also being developed and will be launched shortly.

According to the notified schedule, July 14, 2026, is the last date for submission of Enumeration Forms. Names of electors whose forms are not received before the deadline will not be included in the Draft Electoral Roll scheduled to be published on July 21, 2026.

The EROs and Assistant EROs (AEROs) will scrutinise the submitted forms based on the eligibility conditions laid down under Article 326 of the Constitution, including Indian citizenship, attainment of 18 years of age and ordinary residence within the constituency. Copies of the Draft Electoral Roll will be provided free of cost to recognised political parties and uploaded on the Election Commission website.

The claims and objections period will be open from July 21 to August 20, 2026, during which voters can seek inclusion or raise objections regarding entries in the draft roll. Officials stated that no deletion of names would be carried out without proper inquiry and an opportunity for hearing to the concerned elector.

For voters whose Enumeration Forms are not returned, BLOs may record probable reasons such as absence, shifting, death or duplication after conducting local inquiries. Lists of such electors excluded from the draft roll will be displayed at Panchayat Bhavans, urban local body offices and other designated offices for public access.

The Final Electoral Roll will be published on September 22, 2026. Aggrieved electors can appeal against decisions of EROs before the District Magistrate and subsequently before the Chief Electoral Officer under provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.

During the meeting, the CEO urged political parties to actively participate in the revision process by appointing more BLAs to assist voters and ensure transparency in the exercise. Representatives of the Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Telugu Desam Party, YSRCP and Janasena Party attended the meeting.
