Following the victory of AINRC led NDA combine that won the Puducherry in the recent assembly elections, N Rangasamy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for a record fifth term at Lok Nivas on Wednesday (May 13).
Rangasamy was elected from both the Thattanchavady and Mangalam constituencies. On May 8, Rangaswamy met the Lieutenant Governor and staked a claim to form the government. He submitted letters of support from the elected MLAs seeking permission to form the government. In the 30-member assembly, NDA has the support of 18 MLAs, two more than the majority mark.
President Droupadi Murmu has appointed N Rangasamy as Chief Minister of Puducherry. Following the appointment, Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan invited Mr Rangasamy to form a new government in the union territory.
Lt Governor K Kailashnathan administered the oath of office to Chief minister. Along with him, BJP MLA A Namassivayam and AINRC MLA Malladi Krishna Rao were sworn in as ministers.
Before the start of swearing ceremony, the Chief Secretary read out the notification of Central Government appointing Rangasamy as CM, and Namassivayam and Malladi Krishna Rao as ministers while the other three ministers will be inducted at a later date.

He has made a mark as an experienced and effective administrator who has strengthened Puducherry’s growth journey. Looking forward to working with him for the people’s well-being. The NDA alliance comprises the All-India N R Congress with 12 MLAs, the Bharatiya Janata Party with four MLAs, and one MLA each from the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi. Rangasamy will continue to head a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the Union Territory for the second consecutive term.
Seventy-six-year-old N Rangasamy had earlier served as Chief Minister of Puducherry from 2001 to 2006 and again from 2006 to 2008 as a Congress leader. After founding the All India NR Congress, he served as Chief Minister from 2011 to 2016 and later headed the AINRC-BJP Alliance government from 2021 to 2026. had split from the Congress to launch the AINRC in 2011. He has served twice as CM under the Congress and twice as the AINRC chief Minister.
Following the swearing in ceremony, the Chief Minister and ministers were felicitated by the Lt Governor and Chief Secretary Sharath Chauhan.
BJP National President Nitin Nabin, national Secretary B L Santhosh, were seated on the dais. BJP Puducherry incharge Nirmal Kumar Surana, BJP state President V P Ramalingam, former MLAs DMK convenor R Siva, former speaker R Selvam, were among those present on the occasion.

Namassivayam and Thiru Malladi Krishna Rao on taking oath as Ministers in the Puducherry Government.
