Raichur: A shocking incident of murder has been reported from Yapaladinni village in Raichur district, where a 30-year-old man was allegedly killed for questioning a group of  youths who were taking away a minor girl. The  incident  has triggered tension in the village, with residents demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

The deceased has been identified as Ishappa (30), a resident of Yapaladinni. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred late at night when Ishappa was resting on the terrace of his house.

Police sources said Ishappa noticed a group of youths taking away a 14-year-old minor girl from the neighbourhood. On closer observation, he reportedly realised that the girl was related to his friend Anjaneya, which prompted him to intervene.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that Ishappa immediately rushed down from his house and confronted the group, questioning them about where they were taking the minor girl. “He asked them why they were taking the girl at that hour and tried to stop them,” a local resident said.

However, the confrontation reportedly turned violent. The accused, identified as Aslam and his friend Hussain allegedly attacked Ishappa in a fit of anger. It is alleged that they strangled him using a rope or wire, leading to his death on the spot.

According to Sub-Inspector Huligesh of Yapaladinni Police Station, the accused reacted aggressively when questioned. “The two accused tried to take the 14-year-old minor girl with them. The deceased questioned them at around 2 am. The accused immediately attacked him with a stick and later suffocated him using a rope. He died on the spot,” Huligesh said. On Tuesday night we arrested two accused Aslam and Hussain ‘’ he added.

Police sources identified the main accused  as Aslam, along with his associates. It is alleged that the group attacked Ishappa in a fit of rage for interfering, first assaulting him and then strangling him using a rope or wire, leading to his death on the spot.

After committing the crime, the accused fled the scene, leaving behind the body. The brutal nature of the killing has sent shockwaves across the village, with residents expressing outrage over the incident.

The minor girl was reportedly being taken away under the pretext of a relationship, raising serious concerns about her safety and the circumstances leading to the incident. Police are investigating whether it was a case of attempted abduction.

Following the murder, enraged family members and villagers staged a protest by placing Ishappa’s body in front of the girl’s house, demanding justice. They insisted that the accused be arrested immediately and strict action be taken against them.

The situation in the village turned tense, prompting authorities to deploy additional police personnel to maintain law and order. Senior officers from the district police visited the spot and held discussions with the family members to pacify the situation.

A case has been registered at the local police station, and a search has been launched to trace the  accused. Police officials said multiple teams have been formed to nab the suspects, who are currently absconding.

“We have registered a case of murder and are actively pursuing the accused. Strict action will be taken,” a police officer said, adding that all angles, including the circumstances involving the minor girl, are being investigated.
