Kolkata: As West Bengal heads to the polls in the coming days, allegations have surfaced against members of the ruling Trinamool Congress for resorting to intimidation to influence voters. A video circulating on social media purportedly shows a party worker threatening voters and pressuring them to support the TMC.

In the clip, the individual is heard instructing voters to cast their ballots early and ensure they vote for the party, while claiming that their choices can be tracked. “Go and vote in the morning. Your name is on the list. Remember to vote for the Trinamool Congress. We will see where you cast your vote. We will know which button you press on the EVM. We will find out after the results,” he is heard saying.
Earlier this month, a similar clip went viral, allegedly showing a worker linked to the ruling Trinamool Congress issuing comparable threats to voters in the Baharampur Assembly constituency in Murshidabad district. In that instance, the individual reportedly went door-to-door urging residents not to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party, while falsely claiming that votes would be monitored through cameras and that non-compliance would be detected.
Elections in West Bengal under the current TMC administration have often posed challenges for the Election Commission of India and law enforcement agencies, with recurring allegations of political violence and voter intimidation aimed at influencing electoral outcomes.
