Early claims suggested that the Gau Rakshak may have been targeted by cow smugglers. As news of the incident spread, anger gripped Mathura, with thousands of supporters blocking the highway. Protesters damaged several vehicles, smashing windows and creating a tense atmosphere. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the situation and directed officials to initiate strict action. Several police vehicles were also damaged during the unrest, and authorities had to use tear gas shells to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.

According to reports, “Farsa Wale Baba” had received information about a truck allegedly transporting cows illegally. Acting on the tip-off, he chased and intercepted the vehicle on the highway. However, while he was near the suspected truck in the Navipur area, another vehicle struck him on the road, resulting in his death.

His death sparked strong reactions across the region. Large numbers of supporters gathered and blocked the Delhi–Agra Highway near Chhata, causing a massive traffic jam that stretched for several kilometres.

Protesters alleged that the incident was not an accident but a planned killing. They raised slogans and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible. The situation soon escalated, with sections of the crowd resorting to stone-pelting and damaging multiple vehicles passing through the area, further intensifying tensions. The incident has prompted heavy police deployment across the area to maintain law and order. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, which remains tense.

According to early reports, one suspect was detained at the scene, while three others managed to flee from the spot. Police said the situation is now under control, with adequate force used to restore order. The roadblock has been cleared, and normal movement on the route has resumed. Further legal and procedural action is currently underway.
