New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has urged a Delhi court to award life imprisonment to Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi, chief of the separatist group Dukhtaran-e-Millat, after she was convicted for offences related to anti-India activities and secessionist propaganda.

The NIA made the submission while presenting arguments on sentencing before an additional sessions court in New Delhi. Andrabi, along with her associates Sofi Fehmeeda and Nahida Nasreen, had been convicted in January 2026 under the stringent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Allegations of Anti-India Activities
According to the prosecution, the trio played a key role in promoting separatist ideology in Jammu and Kashmir. Investigators told the court that Andrabi and her associates used speeches, social media platforms and organisational networks to radicalise youth and encourage support for the secession of Jammu and Kashmir from India. The agency argued that their actions were not limited to political dissent but were part of a broader campaign to undermine India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Alleged Links with Pakistan-Based Networks
During the proceedings, the NIA also alleged that Andrabi maintained links with Pakistan-based extremist networks. Prosecutors referred to her alleged association with Hafiz Saeed, the founder of the Pakistan-based militant organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, which India has long accused of orchestrating terrorist activities against the country.
Multiple Criminal Cases
Investigators informed the court that Andrabi has been named in numerous cases in Jammu and Kashmir over the years. According to the NIA, a total of 33 FIRs have been registered against her, covering allegations ranging from unlawful activities to promoting separatist sentiment. The final decision on the punishment for Andrabi and her two associates is expected to be announced on March 24 in New Delhi.
