Yadgiri: In a historic moment for the backward district of Yadagiri in the Kalyana Karnataka region, four candidates have successfully cleared the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025, bringing pride and recognition to the district for the first time.
The final results of the Civil Services Examination were announced on March 6, and the success of four candidates from Yadgiri has been widely celebrated across the region. The achievers include Sandeep Badad, Dr Nivedita Bhavimani, Basavaraj Jawali, and Chandrashekhar, who secured All India ranks and made the district proud.
Among them, Sandeep Badad delivered an outstanding performance, securing 82nd rank nationally and placing second in Karnataka among successful candidates. His achievement is being hailed as a remarkable milestone for the district.
Sandeep Badad is the second son of Basavaraj Badad, a grocery trader in Yadagiri city. He completed his primary education at Chiranjeevi and New Kannada School in Yadagiri before continuing his studies at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Shahapur, where he studied up to second PUC. Later, he pursued engineering at Ambedkar Institute of Technology in Bengaluru. After working for two years in a software company, he moved to Delhi to prepare for the civil services examination and eventually achieved success through dedicated preparation.
Another achiever from the district is Dr Nivedita Bhavimani, who secured 469th rank in the All India list. She is the daughter of retired health department employee Chandappa Bhavimani and Vijayalakshmi Bhavimani, a Panchayat Development Officer from Varkanalli.
Dr Nivedita completed her primary education at Doka Jain School in Yadagiri and her secondary education at RV Educational Institutions. She later pursued her pre-university education in science at SBR Pre-University College in Kalaburagi. She completed her MBBS degree from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in Bengaluru and cleared the UPSC examination in her second attempt.
Basavaraj Jawali from Shahapur town secured 664th rank in the national list. He is the son of entrepreneurs Vishwanath and Girija Jawali. Basavaraj studied in Kannada medium from first to seventh standard before shifting to English medium for higher studies. He later completed his Civil Engineering degree and achieved success in the civil services examination through consistent effort and determination.
The fourth successful candidate from the district is Chandrashekhar, who secured 880th rank in the examination. He hails from Chennur village in Shahapur taluk and is the son of a farming couple. Chandrashekhar completed his primary education in Chennur and secondary education in Vanadurga. He later studied science at Shri Guru College in Kalaburagi before pursuing Computer Science Engineering at BMS College of Engineering in Bengaluru.
Chandrashekhar’s journey to success reflects perseverance and determination. He reached the interview stage three times before finally clearing the examination in his fourth attempt. His elder brother, Dr Devendrappa, currently works as a scientist in the horticulture department.
The success of these four candidates has generated immense pride in Yadagiri district, which has long been considered one of the most underdeveloped districts in north Karnataka. Residents and community leaders say the achievement proves that with determination and proper guidance, students from rural and backward regions can excel in the country’s toughest competitive examinations.
Local citizens, educators and public representatives have congratulated the candidates, stating that their success will inspire many young aspirants from the district to aim for civil services and other prestigious careers.
