GUWAHATI: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a full-fledged campaign for the upcoming Assam assembly election.
From the hallowed, historically sanctified grounds of the Gupteshwar Temple at Dhekiajuli, a land immortalised by the heroic saga of India’s freedom struggle, the Bharatiya Janata Party ceremonially commenced its “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” today at 10 a.m.
This sacred town of Dhekiajuli, consecrated by the martyrdom of numerous valiant freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the 1942 Quit India Movement in defiance of British rule, served as the solemn starting point of this transformative journey. From this revered soil, blessed by supreme sacrifice, the Yatra embarks with a resolve to shape the destiny of Assam.
The Yatra was formally inaugurated in the august presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Hon’ble State President Dilip Saikia. In an official statement, senior State BJP spokesperson Manas Sarania stated that the “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” is not merely a political programme but a profound reaffirmation of public trust and an unwavering commitment to development.
The venue resonated with unprecedented enthusiasm as an overwhelming tide of people gathered, their spontaneous participation standing as living testimony to the deep-rooted faith reposed in the BJP’s development-oriented governance and visionary policies.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma underscored the government’s steadfast commitment to holistic development, strengthening infrastructure, expanding industrial and employment opportunities, and ensuring the welfare of every section of society. Simultaneously, the people were called upon to unite in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s grand vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and a “Viksit Assam,” translating aspiration into action and vision into reality.
BJP further affirmed that the overwhelming public support witnessed on this historic soil of Dhekiajuli unequivocally reflects the people’s firm resolve to build a secure, strong, and developed Assam under the dynamic leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The “Jan Ashirwad Yatra” marks the dawn of a new chapter, carrying the message of progress across the State while consolidating the blessings and confidence of the people.
The Yatra proceeds from Gupteshwar Temple through Barsola, Tezpur, Naduar, and Rangapara, embracing the rich civilisational and cultural landscape of Assam. It encompasses Tezpur,the revered citadel of literature, music, and theatre,the karmabhoomi and birthplace of luminaries such as Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, Bishnu Rabha, Phani Sharma, and Padmanath Gohain Baruah. These illustrious personalities have made indelible contributions to the literary, cultural, and social fabric of Tezpur and the greater Assamese civilisation.
