NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially declared Global Human Peace University, Bengaluru, as a fake university. In a public notice issued by UGC Secretary Prof. Manish R. Joshi, the Commission cautioned students, parents, and the general public against seeking admission to this unrecognised institution. According to the UGC, Global Human Peace University, located at #1035, 4th Block, Near Golden Heights, Dr Rajkumar Road, Rajaji Nagar, Bengaluru, 560010 (Karnataka), has been found awarding degrees in violation of the UGC Act, 1956. The Commission has added the institution’s name to its official list of fake universities.
The UGC notice has clarified that the so-called university is neither recognised under Section 2(f) nor empowered under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Furthermore, the institution has not been approved by AICTE or any other statutory authority that regulates higher education in India. Hence, the university has no legal authority to award any degrees or diplomas. Any certificates, diplomas, or degrees awarded by this institute hold no academic or professional value. The notice clearly stated that any degree or diploma issued by this institute will not be considered valid for pursuing higher education or for government job opportunities.
This means that students who have already obtained degrees from Global Human Peace University cannot use them for admissions to other recognised universities, government job applications, or any official educational equivalence.
The UGC has issued a public advisory urging students, parents, and the general public not to take admission in Global Human Peace University or any other similar unrecognised institutions.

The notice highlights that while the UGC continues to take measures to safeguard students from fraudulent institutions, many unauthorized entities continue to operate under misleading names, often using words like “University” or “International Institute” to create a false impression of legitimacy.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) is India’s apex regulatory body responsible for maintaining standards in higher education. Under the UGC Act, 1956, only universities established by an Act of Parliament, Act of State Legislature, or institutions deemed to be universities under Section 3 of the Act can award degrees.
Private institutions, trusts, or societies cannot use the title “University” unless they are formally recognised by the UGC. Operating as a university without UGC approval is a violation of Section 22 of the UGC Act, which makes the awarding of unauthorised degrees illegal.
In recent years, UGC has been actively identifying and publishing lists of fake universities operating across India. These lists are made available on the official UGC website (www.ugc.gov.in) to help students verify the authenticity of institutions before taking admission.
