Sangareddy: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Telangana, has issued an official statement condemning the desecration of the statue of social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule in Tellapur village, Sangareddy district, terming the incident “deeply painful and condemnable.”
In a statement released by RSS Telangana, the organisation said it has no connection whatsoever with the vandalism and described attempts to link it to the incident as “absolute falsehood.”
According to the statement, villagers had recently conducted statue installation programmes in a peaceful and united manner. The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was installed on January 25, followed by the installation of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s statue on February 6, with participation from across the village community.
The RSS said both events were held in an atmosphere of unity and enthusiasm. It alleged that a few “opportunistic individuals” later damaged the Phule statue, leading to tension and disturbing social harmony in the village.
The organisation further stated that the act appears to be a deliberate attempt to create division among villagers and to defame the RSS by falsely attributing responsibility for the desecration.
Emphasising its ideological position, the RSS said it holds the highest respect for patriots, social reformers, and the architects of the Constitution. The statement urged villagers and youth to remain vigilant against elements seeking to disrupt communal harmony.
