Hindu Sammelan in Northeast: Our civilisation has evolved in forests; diversity is our strength

Whether it was the question of the country’s Partition in 1947, or the wars of 1962, 1965, and 1971, whenever the nation faced a challenge, a disaster, or any crisis, and as the Sangh gradually began to grow, efforts were made across the country in all those areas where sections of society had been left behind, to bring them forward through work in education, health, and related fields. Over these 100 years, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh wants to instill two fundamental ideas in every swayamsevak’s life: “Rashtra First” — that the Rashtra is supreme”, said Sah Sarkaryavah of RSS, Arun Kumar on January 31 while addressing Swadharma Sammelan held at Borum Ground, Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh.

Arun Kumar further said that the Sangh wants everyone to internalise these two points in their lives. First, whatever values we wish to see in others, we must first bring them into ourselves. Become the kind of society you wish to see. Do not speak merely through words; speak through action. Words never speak — speak by action. Whatever change we wish to bring, we must first adopt it in our own lives. Wetell everyone that whatever abilities, talents, and virtues almighty has given you, and whatever you have acquired through the grace of society — none of it belongs to you alone. It is due to your ancestors, your society, and your nation. Everyone should ask themselves one question: the country gives us everything — should we not also learn to give something back? In life, whenever the need arises, we will make sacrifices for the nation, but at every moment, in every instant, we will live for the nation.I am a teacher. I am an employee. I am a trader. I live in a neighborhood. I live in a village. I live in a city. At every moment, in every instant, we live for the nation. How? We will not do even a single act that harms the country. Whenever there is any good work, we will stand with it. To instill this feeling in the minds of people — this is the work of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

While talking about Hindu Sammelans being organised across the country he said, “Sangh means creating such a society in which these values are visible. Gradually, as this 100-year journey reaches its completion, this year, across Hindu Sammelan, Swadharma Sammelan, Sanatan Sammelan, and Sammelan on social harmony, at different places and under different names according to the nature of society. Sangh is conducting more than 85,000 Sammelans. Through all these Sammelans, we are conveying this message to everyone.”

“Looking ahead to the year 2025, our Prime Minister, in 2022, when 75 years of Independence were completed, had called upon the nation from the Red Fort to build a fully developed Bharat by 2047. For this, the nation must be built on the foundation of the ‘Panch Pran’ (Five Resolutions), and everyone must take a pledge to these five principles. Similarly, at that time, the most revered Sarsanghchalak, Shri Mohan ji Bhagwat, gave a call that to fulfill these Panch Pran, the ‘Panch Parivartan’ (Five Transformations) should become the guiding framework of society. By understanding these Panch Pran and Panch Parivartan and bringing them into our lives, we must create a fully developed Bharat by the year 2025,” he further added.

Dimapur Hindu Sammelan

The Dimapur Hindu Society organised a Vishal Hindu Sammelan at the DDSC Stadium, Dimapur, with participation from over 4,400 people from across Nagaland and neighbouring regions. The Sammelan emerged as a significant platform for cultural assertion, social harmony, and reflection on national responsibilities.

The programme was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Sadasya of the RSS; Sunita Haldekar, Akhil Bharatiya Sah Karyavahika (Joint General Secretary) of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti; Ramesh Kumar Muni; and social thinker Dr Thunbai.

Speakers highlighted the importance of cultural self-awareness, social cohesion, and national unity, particularly in the context of North East Bharat. Emphasis was laid on the role of Sanatan values in strengthening Bharat’s civilisational ethos and fostering harmony among diverse communities.

Dr Manmohan Vaidya emphasised that Bharat’s strength lies in its cultural continuity and collective consciousness and urged society to work beyond divisions. The need for youth participation in nation-building and preservation of indigenous and spiritual traditions was also stressed.

Assam Hindu Sammelan

As part of the centenary celebrations of the RSS, over 1,500 Hindu Sammelans are being organised across Assam Prant (North and South Assam). These Sammelans aim to reach people with the message of Panch Parivartan for social change.

Janajatiya Society’s Role in Preserving Sanatan

A Sanatani Hindu Sanmilan was organised on January 28 at Dengkimo Apam, Centre Bazar, in the Rongchehon section of the Langsomepi area, Karbi Anglong district, Assam. The Sanmilan reaffirmed the janajati society’s commitment to preserving Sanatan Dharma and Bharatiya civilisational values.

Speakers emphasised that indigenous communities have historically been custodians of Sanatan culture, safeguarding traditions, temples, festivals, spiritual heritage, and moral values through generations. The programme was graced by Dr Dhananjoy Qusre, Head of the Department of Zoology and Vice Principal of Morigaon College, and Sanskar Bharati All India Executive Member as Chief Guests.

Addressing the gathering, they highlighted the inseparable link between Janajatiya traditions and Sanatan values, noting that Janajati communities have played a vital role in protecting temples, customs, festivals, and moral traditions across generations. Among the Guests of Honour were Guneswar Kalita, Vibhag Pracharak, RSS, Karbi Anglong; Rashmi Rongpipi of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Nagaon Vibhag, Sharirik Pramukh; and Ajoy Mahato, Senior Correspondent from Nagaon and Purvanchal Prabhari. They collectively stressed the need for collective awareness, cultural pride, and active participation in safeguarding Bharat’s heritage.

The organisers stated that the Sanmilan was aimed at infusing renewed energy into the social fabric of Karbi Anglong by reinforcing the values of equality, harmony, and cultural continuity. Longkam Engti, President of the Sanmilan Committee, along with Rupsing Singnar, Secretary, appealed to citizens from all sections of society to actively participate in efforts to preserve and protect Dharma, culture, and tradition. In their addresses, speakers urged people to renounce selfishness, social discrimination, and inertia, and instead move forward with a spirit of complete unity. They emphasised that the protection of Sanatan culture is a collective responsibility and that tribal society continues to stand at the forefront of this national endeavour.

The event formed part of broader nationwide efforts marking 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, reflecting the growing role of indigenous communities in strengthening Bharat’s cultural and spiritual foundations.

The Sammelan was organised with the objective of fostering social unity, cultural awareness, and collective harmony among the people. Envisioned as a reflection of the enduring spirit of Sanatan Dharma, the programme emphasised the need to rise above personal biases, discrimination, and social divisions to strengthen the region’s cultural and social fabric.

The conference was graced by Anup Kumar as the Chief Guest, while Harsing Teron, Prant Sah Sangathan Mantri, VHP, and Namita Ujha, Prant Shishu Vatika Pramukh, attended as Guests of Honour. Their presence added significance to the event and inspired the gathering.
