Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on December 10 launched the second phase of Mukhyamantri Gramin Bus Sewa Yojna ( MMGBY), a flagship scheme of the state government aimed at improving the transport facilities in rural parts of the state.
The Chief Minister virtually launched the scheme from Raipur by flagging of the buses with ministers from state cabinet were also in attendance.
Under the second phase of the scheme, 24 new buses has started operations on 23 rural routes in 10 districts of Bastar and Surguja, both tribal populated divisions of the state. The initiative is set to benefits residents of around 180 villages who were earlier lacking direct transportation facility.
Congratulating the residents, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that better transport facilities will make the locals’ life easier and open new avenues of progress for them.
The CM emphasised that the state government is clear in its resolve to ensure that no village in the state remains isolated from the mainstream of development. He noted that the scheme is not only enhancing transportation facilities but also strengthening social and economic equality by connecting the villagers of rural areas to service institutions and cities.
The scheme is proving to be a milestone in ensuring a robust public transportation system in rural areas, providing people with safe, timely and convenient travel.
The launch of the ‘Chief Minister Rural Bus Scheme’ is considered a crucial step towards achieving the goal of comprehensive development in far fledged tribal dominated areas of Surguja and Bastar including the Maoist-affected pockets which lacked direct transportation facilities.
Following the launch of the second phase around 430 remote villages of the state have been directly connected to the bus service.
The first phase of the MMGBY was jointly launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Sai from Jagdalpur of Bastar on October 4 this year, connecting around 250 remote villages of the state.
