In a major push toward technology-led electoral reforms, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has invited citizens across the country to provide feedback on its newly developed ECINet digital platform, ahead of its full-fledged national launch scheduled for January 2026. The Commission announced that the suggestions window on the ECINet app will remain open from November 27 to December 27, giving voters, officials and field workers a month-long opportunity to help refine the tool.
The ECINet platform, described by the Commission as a “unified digital ecosystem for all election-related services”, has already undergone testing during the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 and several recent bypolls.
According to senior officials quoted in media, the trial phase demonstrated significant benefits, especially in speeding up voter services, improving the accuracy and speed of polling data, and enabling faster publication of Index Cards, records that traditionally took weeks or even months to compile but were now generated within 72 hours of polling.
An ECI official noted that the purpose behind opening the platform to public scrutiny is twofold: to ensure that the technological shift benefits the common voter and to make election processes more transparent and accessible. “This is perhaps the first time such a comprehensive digital election platform is being shaped with inputs from not just government officials but the general public. We want ECINet to be user-friendly, reliable and future-ready,” the official said.
The Commission has already incorporated substantial feedback from Chief Electoral Officers, District Magistrates, Electoral Registration Officers, observers, and field-level staff, all of whom used ECINet during the trial elections. Their insights, largely focused on workflow efficiency and the refinement of internal dashboards, are now being supplemented with public suggestions aimed at strengthening convenience, navigation and citizen services.
Developed under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr Vivek Joshi, the ECINet project represents one of the most ambitious digital consolidation efforts undertaken by the Election Commission. The platform brings together nearly 40 standalone election-related applications and websites into a single interface, thereby eliminating the need for voters and officials to navigate multiple systems.
Among the tools integrated into ECINet are some of the Commission’s most widely used digital services, including the Voter Helpline App, cVIGIL for reporting election violations, Saksham, Polling Trends, and Know Your Candidate. The Commission believes that merging these into a unified platform will not only improve efficiency but also reduce redundancy and confusion for the average user.
Available on both Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, the ECINet app has been designed as a one-stop solution for everything from registering voter ID applications to accessing real-time polling trends, knowing candidates’ details, tracking election complaints, and receiving important election-related notifications. Officials involved in the project say that the long-term vision is to make ECINet the backbone of India’s digital election management system.
The Election Commission emphasised that the ongoing feedback exercise is crucial to ensuring that the platform is robust and inclusive before its nationwide launch. Citizens who wish to participate can access the “Submit a Suggestion” tab on the ECINet homepage, where they can share recommendations, report interface issues, or propose new features.
As India moves closer to the 2026 electoral cycle, the Commission hopes that ECINet will significantly simplify voter interactions, support efficient election management, and enhance public trust through technological transparency. The month-long consultation period marks a significant step toward making India’s election technology both participatory and citizen-friendly.
