Tamil Nadu: 16 yrs old Hindu minor abducted by mechanic Abdul, forced into nikah; POCSO filed after VHP action

Tamil Nadu has witnessed two disturbing incidents, a Hindu minor allegedly abducted, converted and forced into marriage in Krishnagiri, and a woman stabbed inside a dargah in Virudhunagar dargah raising serious questions over police handling and government accountability

Another shocking incident of how Hindu minors are lured in the name of love and converted to the Islamic religion has been reported from Tamil Nadu. The accused had escaped earlier by taking advantage of the lenience shown by the police, who are now under suspension for dereliction of duty. In another incident, a woman who went to a mosque with her baby for a cure was stabbed after she resisted the sexual advances of a Muslim man inside the complex.

In a building owned by a tempo van driver, a 21-year-old Muslim youth, Abdul Kaif, runs a mechanic shop at Krishnagiri. The building owner has a 17-year-old daughter. Abdul Kaif allegedly befriended the minor with trapped her in the name of love. On October 23, Abdul Kaif allegedly abducted the girl. Based on the missing person complaint, the Krishnagiri Women’s Police Station began probing. The girl’s father accused and suspected the involvement of Abdul Kaif, who was also found missing. On October 27, both parties were summoned for an inquiry.

At the police station, Abdul Kaif arrived with the girl reportedly wearing a burqa worn by Muslims, his parents, and 15 others, including members of the local Islamic community. The girl was found with mehendi applied to her hands. The police extracted an assurance from Abdul Kaif’s family that he would marry the girl only after she turned 18.

Instead of sending the girl with her biological parents, the local police allowed the minor to go away with Abdul Kaif. The father of the girl again approached the police station on October 29, after which the girl was summoned, enabling him to bring her back home. Upon returning home, the girl narrated what had happened. The minor said that Abdul Kaif had abducted her to Bengaluru and then to Muslimpur, where she was forced to sign a register on the night of October 27, 2025.

According to the complaint, the girl reportedly stated: “The register had green lines and was written in Urdu, which I did not understand. Abdul, his father, and his mother also signed. My name was changed. I was told a ‘nikah’ (marriage) would be performed. Many people were served with a biryani and meat feast. They also arranged a ‘first night’ nuptial ceremony to consummate the nikah. Against my will, I was forced into consummating the marriage.”

The aggrieved parents brought this to the notice of VHP. With their guidance, the parents presented a petition to the District Superintendent of Police (SP).

According to VHP sources, the complaint brought out glaring and grave lapses: “On October 27, police did not file a POCSO case against the abductor; instead, they took signatures from us and sent the girl with him. The girl was not placed in a shelter but was instead married off under Islamic rituals on the very night. Abdul Kaif, who violated and forcefully converted our daughter, was aided by members of the Jamaat. Police officers from the Krishnagiri Women’s Station should be held accountable.”

A shocking incident in Krishnagiri: A minor girl was reportedly drugged with #lovejihad intentions, taken to Kerala by a gang, and forcibly converted.

Krishnagiri West District VHP President Santhakumar said, “This is happening from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Hindu girls are targeted, lured into love traps by deceptive jihadist groups who marry them and later abandon them through ‘talaq’ divorce after a few months. All responsible police officers, from the inspector to the rank-and-file, should be suspended for failing to place the minor girl in a shelter and instead sending her with the accused. Action must be taken under POCSO against the Muslim religious leaders and Abdul Kaif.”

On learning that a POCSO case had been booked against him, Abdul Kaif went underground. Police are on the lookout for him. This is a typical case of locking the stable door after the horse has bolted, or of giving him a long rope to escape for reasons best known to the police officers who handled the case. VHP suspects that “the police might be under pressure from higher-ups or powerful Muslim leaders not to register an FIR under POCSO.” The girl has been taken to hospital for medical examination.

Meanwhile, Krishnagiri district Superintendent of Police Thangadurai has formed a team headed by Dy SP Namasivayam and Inspector Pankajam. Sub Inspector Amutha, who did not handle the case properly, has been transferred to Kathikuppam Police Station, and SI Vijaya, who gave the CSR, has been shifted to Barur Police Station.

VHP functionaries said, “Krishnagiri All-Women Police Station Inspector Banumathi, who questioned both parties, was left out without any action. Transfer for two SIs is not the optimum punishment in a minor abduction, marriage, conversion and forceful physical relation case. We will escalate the issue in appropriate forums.”

In another incident at Narikudi in Virudhunagar district, a woman who went with her baby to a Islamic Dargah on November 21 to get holy water sprinkled on the child to ward off evils was reportedly sexually harassed. When she resisted his advances, Abdul Aziz, the hazrat of the dargah, allegedly stabbed her multiple times.

Condemning the incident, TN BJP chief Nainar Nagendran said on X: “In Tamil Nadu, sexual assaults are happening from schools to holy places like Dargah. It shows the culprits never seriously attach importance to the CM and the police force under his command… There have been sexual assault cases against Abdul Aziz, and how he was appointed to such a holy post is still baffling. The incident sent shock waves in Virudhunagar district, but the men and women in DMK and its allies remain silent. Are they afraid of losing Muslim votes if they voice? Or is there any involvement of any ‘Sir’ like the Anna University case? The DMK government that gives sermons to opposition, social justice and communal harmony should approach this issue without making any compromise and ensure maximum sentence to the perpetrator. It should also help the victim get justice.”

Critics say, “The minority appeasement policies of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu embolden the minorities to indulge in crimes including love and land jihad, drug peddling, rape of children and women, harassments and what not?”
