Bengaluru; The Bihar Assembly election results have set off a political storm in Karnataka, with senior BJP and JD(S) leaders launching a fierce attack on the Congress for what they call a “manufactured and self-serving vote-theft narrative.” As the NDA registered an emphatic victory in Bihar, Karnataka’s political spectrum witnessed a wave of reactions—many accusing the Congress of misleading the nation with false allegations of electoral fraud.
BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra was among the first to react, posting a sharp jibe on X. “Those who resorted to political theft in the name of vote theft have been punished in Bihar,” he wrote, asserting that the voters had sent a clear message that an NDA government was inevitable in the state. According to Vijayendra, the Bihar verdict is not just an electoral outcome—it is a direct rejection of the Congress’ “habitual excuse-mongering” whenever it faces defeat.

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje followed with an even stronger response, expressing severe anger at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement alleging “vote theft” in Bihar. Karandlaje questioned the very basis of Congress’ claims: “If BJP’s victory is vote theft, then how did Congress win 135 seats in Karnataka?” she asked, slamming what she described as the Congress’ selective outrage and “convenient moral posturing.”
Karandlaje accused the Congress of misusing the “vote theft” allegation purely as a shield to hide its failures. “This attitude—that vote theft happens only when BJP wins—is dangerous for democracy. It insults the wisdom of the people,” she said.
The Union Minister also seized the moment to highlight what she termed the “collapse of governance” under the Congress regime in Karnataka. “Not a single meaningful development project has taken place. Roads are crumbling, transport corporations have no funds to repair buses, prices are soaring, sugarcane growers are suffering, and flood victims are still waiting for relief,” she alleged. The guarantee schemes, she added, have become “vehicles of corruption where money is being looted in the name of welfare.”
Meanwhile, JD(S) leader and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy also weighed in, asserting that the people’s verdict in Bihar is a “fit punishment” to those who propagated fabricated allegations of electoral malpractice. Kumaraswamy said that Congress and its allies had tried to frame BJP’s victories as the result of “systematic vote theft,” but the voters themselves had now proved such claims hollow.
Kumaraswamy recalled that similar allegations were made in Karnataka and other states whenever Congress faced setback. “The people have rejected this narrative. They cast their vote wisely and made it clear that democracy works—not conspiracy theories,” he said.
The former Karnataka Chief Minister highlighted that Congress repeatedly attempts to shift the blame onto institutions such as the Election Commission, instead of introspecting on its political weaknesses. “By questioning the election process every time they lose, they are not targeting the BJP—they are undermining the very foundations of democracy,” he said.
The Bihar verdict, according to Kumaraswamy, showed that the opposition’s claims held no ground. “The people are the judges. They have spoken decisively. The verdict is not the failure of opposition parties—it is the failure of their falsehoods,” he remarked.
