NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken stock of the situation in the wake of the blast in Delhi. He spoke to Union HM Amit Shah and took an update on the situation: GoI Sources.
A blast occurred near Gate 1 Red Fort Metro station in the national capital, and eight people died before reaching the hospital, while more than twenty have been left injured, three of them seriously, a senior Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital official told ANI on November 10.
Delhi Police officials said they are investigating the incident. “As of now, I can’t tell you anything. Investigation is being done.”
DIG CRPF, who reached the spot, said it is too early to say anything. “I am just going to the site…,” he said.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer AK Malik said they got information that there was a blast in a car near Chandni Chowk Metro Station.
“We responded immediately, and seven units were sent to the spot. At 7:29 pm, the fire was brought under control. There is a possibility that there are casualties in this. All our teams are present at the spot,” he said.
New Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha says, “Today at about 6.52 pm, an explosion occurred in a slow moving vehicle coming towards red light, passengers were there, with that other vehicles got affected. All the agencies, Delhi Police, FSL, NIA, NSG teams came, they are taking stock of the situation. Investigation is going on, you will be updated. Some deaths happened, few people got injured, you will be updated on that. The situation is being regularly monitored. The Home Minister is being regularly briefed.”
Soon after the blast fire tenders rushed to the spot followed by the NIA and the NSG team.
According to the reports in the media, Mumbai, the financial capital of Bharat has been placed on high alert. Ransom checking of vehicles and suspicious people is taking place based on the intelligence input. Also, patrolling has been increased in sensitive areas.
Security has also been stepped in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh and an order has been issued to increase patrolling. According to the reports in the media, security around Ayodhya Ram Mandir and other religious places has also been increased.
