The Sri Bhumi district committee of Congress party organised a party meeting in Indira Bhavan on October 27. Sribhumi is a border district with Bangladesh. Amid the party meeting one leader started singing the national anthem of Bangladesh. The meeting was attended by local reporters and the entire episode was captured on camera. The video clip immediately went viral on social media. People reacted sharply to the blunder made by Congress. Citizens asked, whether it was just a stupidity or intentional, Congress should clarify.

State BJP questioned, where it is a mere coincidence or Congress is trying to appease Bangladesh origin Muslim vote bank in Assam ahead of the 2026 assembly election. State BJP said Bangladesh government intends to include Northeast in their imaginary map and Congress leaders sing Bangladeshi anthems, it is an issue which needs to be answered by the grand old party. No official clarification has been given by the Assam congress on the matter. But the issue has raised another political debate in the state.
