The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) centenary celebration in Nalatwad turned into a vibrant public spectacle on October 26, with hundreds of swayamsevaks participating in a disciplined, colourful Path Sanchalan that mesmerised residents. The event showcased the RSS’s strength, unity, and long-standing commitment to nation-building.
The celebration began with the traditional worship of the Bhagavadwaj (saffron flag) at Hemareddy Mallamma Circle. As the rhythmic beats of traditional ghosh vadhya filled the air, swayamsevaks dressed in full RSS uniform began their well-coordinated march through the main streets of Nalatwad. Their synchronised movements and disciplined demeanour drew admiration from townspeople who lined the streets to watch.
A decorated open chariot carrying portraits of Bharat Mata, RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, and Guruji Golwalkar, along with saffron flags fluttering high, became the visual centrepiece of the Path Sanchalan. Children dressed in RSS attire walked alongside, adding a vibrant touch to the historic celebration.
Across the town, residents had adorned streets with colourful banners, torans, and rangoli patterns outside their homes. The atmosphere was like a grand festival of nationalism and devotion. At prominent junctions like Hemareddy Mallamma Circle and Basaveshwara Circle, former MLA A.S. Patil Nadahalli and other BJP leaders showered flower petals on the marching Swayamsevaks, warmly greeting them and appreciating their discipline.
Later, a massive public meeting was held at the Veereshwara College Grounds. Speaking at the event, Amreshwara Gajadanda Shivacharya commended the RSS for its selfless service and resilience over the past century. He said, “Whenever the country faces adversity — whether it is a pandemic like COVID-19 or natural calamities — the first to reach the scene and offer help are the swayamsevaks. Their guiding principle, ‘Nation First,’ is reflected in every action.”
RSS intellectual leader Damodar Ji and Dr Rajendra Galagali also spoke at the gathering, emphasising that the Sangh’s strength lies in its disciplined Swayamsevaks and its unwavering focus on cultural unity and social harmony.
Several prominent local figures, including Mahantappa Gowda Patil, Muttu Sahukar Angadi, Munna Dhani Nadagouda, Kenchappanna Biradar, G. Mahantesh Ganganagouda, P.G. Biradar, Chandrashekar Ganganagouda, Sanganna Kulageri, Sanganna Havaragi, Gururaj Angadi, and Sharanu Ganganagouda, attended the celebration and extended their support.
Police units from Muddebihal, Talikoti, Basavanabagewadi, and Vijayapura ensured tight security throughout the event, facilitating a peaceful and orderly gathering.
The RSS centenary Path Sanchalan, marked by grandeur, discipline, and devotion, transformed the small town of Nalatwad into a sea of saffron. The event not only celebrated the Sangh’s 100-year legacy but also demonstrated its deep-rooted presence in Karnataka’s social fabric.
