Assam CM Sarma exposes Left-Congress propaganda portraying Bhagwan Shiva devotee Zubeen Garg as atheist

  1. Left eco system and Congress party particularly indulge in very cheap politics after the sad demise of popular singer and icon Zubeen Garg. The political system led by Congress and the Left is trying to establish Zubeen Garg as a leftist and atheist who doesn’t believe in the Hindu religion, particularly despite being born to a Brahmin family. A very popular dialogue of Zubeen Garg from his film ‘Kanchanjangha’, where he said “Mur Kunu Jati Nai, Mur Kunu Dharma Nai, Mur Kunu Bhagwan Nai, Moi Mukto, Moye Kanchanjangha” (I don’t have a cast, I don’t have a religion, I don’t have a god, I am free and I am the Kanchanjangha), is the base for the latest political propaganda for the opposition parties. The upcoming assembly election in 2026 in Assam is the reason for the political activities of the opposition parties, which revolve around the late Zubeen Garg, portraying him as a leftist and an atheist to create a divide among the crores of followers of the popular singer. Interestingly, the Bangladeshi-origin Muslims are actively participating in the political activity, which is a part of the propaganda to diminish the Hindu identity of Zubeen Garg.

Raju Baruah, a devoted Zubeen Garg follower, said that he has never seen any music concert of Zubeen Garg in the Miya-Muslim dominated areas of Assam in the last 20 years; rather, they invited singers from Bangladesh to celebrate their occasions. But all of a sudden, they have become Zubeen Garg fans and are showing public sympathies, targeting the 2026 election.

But in reality, Zubeen Garg was a ‘Shiva Bhakt’ (devotee of Lord Shiva). Zubeen had a big tattoo of Mahakal on his arm. In a conversation with writer and journalist Anuradha Sharmapujari, Zubeen said, “I am a devotee of Shiva and wrote a poem on Mahakaal.” Zubeen wrote, “ Mur Tritiya Nayan Ketia Xar Pabo…Jogai Dim Biswak Moi Mahakaal, Moi Biswapaal” (When will My Third Eye Awake… I will awaken the Universe, I am Mahakaal, I am Biswapaal). In fact, Zubeen established Shiva Linga in his house and celebrated Shivratri with full rituals. But then why are the Congress and the Left trying to establish him as an atheist? Like many other Hindus, Zubeen was against the caste system and animal sacrifices. But it was not enough to put him in the bracket of Hindu haters. Reacting to the political propaganda by the left eco system, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “ Zubeen was a bigger Shiva devotee than us. The left is trying to weaken the Sanatan by putting Zubeen in the front. All the last rites of the beloved singer were done in full Hindu rituals. But a propaganda is being run in Assam to portray Zubeen as anti-Hindu and atheist. All these are aiming to stop the eviction drives forever and to derail pro indigenous actions by the government”, the CM added.

It should be mentioned that large numbers of Muslim men and women on October 21 gathered in the cremation site of Zubeen Garg and raised anti-BJP slogans, including ‘Inquilab Zindabaad”, which has been denounced by true fans and followers of the icon. In the Baksa jail violence, where nine people have been arrested so far, 8 of them are Muslims. In a viral video, one of the arrested men confesses to the police that he has never heard Zubeen Garg’s songs and doesn’t even know him. But he was seen pelting stones at the police and the media. SP Baksa stated that a WhatsApp account based in Bangalore was directing people to attack the police and media.
